20 top Valentine’s books: for home and speech

The search for perfect books continues… our list of books that we use for each “theme” or month is growing as we grow as speech therapists and moms.

At home, I (Allyssa) love rotating through seasonal books in the living room. We have one bin of current, favorite books and another bin with seasonal books.

Right now, it’s full of Valentine’s Day books and books with a love theme. At home, because my daughter is a young toddler, I am looking for books with repetition, rhyme, and an interactive element (i.e. opening flaps).

In speech, these books pair perfectly with themed worksheets, activities, or crafts. I enjoy reading a story at the beginning of the session and following through with activities while pulling in the concepts of the book during the rest of the time. In speech, I am looking for a variety of books. I need books that cover a variety of ages, abilities, and goals.
